Waterloo Data Science is a small, tight-knit group of students that meet every week at the Stats Club office to talk about tools, techniques, resources, or anything else that we’re working on. Google’s chief economist Hal Varian predicted that “the sexy job in the next ten years will be statisticians”, and we believe that data science will be at the forefront of that. For more information about data science, see Flowing Data’s s post on the rise of the data scientist.

If you have background and/or serious interest in big data, data visualization, and applying statistical techniques to real world data, we’d like you to join us. Please email statsclubwaterloo@gmail.com with a short introduction about your backgrounds/interests, and your availability, and we’ll let you know about the next meeting!
